Hot Girl Walk: Empowerment and Confidence on Austin's Streets

Thanks to our Fifth Street DMC Gen Z team members, we were recently introduced to this craze. This new trend is all about empowering women to embrace their inner power (aka hotness) and feel confident in their own skin. It’s not about anyone else’s gaze but your own.

Given that our team is entirely female, along with nearly 60% of the event industry and over 50% of the hospitality industry powered by females  – we set on a mission to host a summer hot girl walk for our industry friends here in Austin.

As event planners - a simple email invitation just wouldn’t do.

Thus, we partnered with local icon, Drag Queen Brigitte Bandit. In a single day, we surprised 12 local hotel sales & event teams with surprise drag performances.

From office cubicle hubs to hotel lobbies - we spread joy to over 100 (mostly female) industry friends with Bridget’s performances of, “Man, I Feel Like a Woman!”, “Firework”, and of course Dolly’s “9 to 5”. If the wig fits!!!

Thank you to our Austin Hospitality friends at Fairmont Austin, Hotel Van Zandt, The Loren at Lady Bird Lake, JW Marriott, Four Seasons, The Line, Austin Proper, Omni Barton Creek, The Driskill, and Hotel Magdalena for making for being such an enthusiastic audience!

Each performance was a preview of joy and community to be expected at the upcoming Hot Girl walk just two weeks later. While none of our favorite local Drag Queens could make it, dozens of our partners from teams like Fairmont Austin, Austin Proper, and the historic Driskill Hotel joined us.

To us, this is no easy feat. Event and hospitality workers work hard every day to give positive experiences with others and we know many - ourselves included - struggle to make time for themselves. To move their bodies, to be in community with each other, and to feel joy. It was a great reminder that we're all in this together and that we can support each other in our journeys toward self-love and confidence. But…

the Hot Girl Walk isn't just about drag queens and flashy outfits.

It's about feeling confident and empowered in your own skin.

Whether you're rocking a full face of makeup or just rolled out of bed, the Hot Girl Walk is a great way to boost your self-esteem and feel good about yourself. Get up from your desk, leave your house, and strut confidently around – in your neighborhood, isles of Target, to a stroll around town.

If you haven't tried a Hot Girl Walk yet, I highly recommend it! It's great for the mind, body, and soul. So put on your favorite outfit, grab some friends, and hit the streets. You never know who you might inspire along the way.
